Castle Six has introduced a new Electrostatic Discharge (ESD) cleaning card designed for removing damaging ESD, plaguing Card readers and POS Terminals normally used throughout the Retail, Banking, and the Credit Card Industries.

NCR in cooperation with the engineers at Waffle Technology have created a product to protect Magnetic Stripe Readers (MSR) from ElectroStatic Discharge (ESD) that can cause MSR failures and system lockups. ESD issues are more common in low humidity environments when customers use the new Debit/Credit cards with holographic images. ESD has become a common cause of circuit failure with many devices now sensitive to less than 30 volts. Visa contends an electrostatic discharge is causing problems at some credit card terminals.

We, at Castle Six are now offering the ESD Clean and Treat packs. These packs contain two of our Waffle Technology magnetic stripe reader cleaning cards. One of these is saturated in our normal solution for cleaning and the other is a proprietary anti-static solution that helps to eliminate the build up of static electricity during the card read cycle. This process should be performed on all readers at least once per month.
